The imagery of this table is inspired by the scenic views and organisms of Green-Wood Cemetery, featuring its colorful trees, vines and flowers, skeletons, and animal life. Our visits to Fonthill Castle also influenced this piece. Here, we used a press molding technique similarly done for the Moravian ceramic tiles that cover that building.

Production
Each ceramic tile is hand sculpted and made into a press mold, which allows the motifs to be repeated. Tiles dry fully and are then bisque fired.
After the biqsue firing they are hand painted with a selection of glazes and fired to cone 5 oxidation. Gold luster is applied to select tiles and fired once more to leave a layer of real gold on the ceramic.
Once all tiles are made, the frame is assembled and sheets of cement board are cut to size and attached. Tiles are adhered to the base with thinset mortar and thick two tone grout is used to fill in the background.
