Brittle Star is the name of a composite material by Chen Chen & Kai Williams Inc. consisting of zinc poured around glass spheres that create a "stained glass" like material. The name comes from the eponymous star fish which has thousands of simple eyes that cover its body.
This process stems from the previous year's experiments for Liquid Metal.
In March of 2018, the first Brittle Star suspension lights were shown in a grouping of 5 at Collectible Design Fair in Brussels, Belgium with weavings by Mimi Jung in a booth curated by Sight Unseen.
